ROGUE ONE: KRENNIC'S LOST SCENES...

Director Krennic confidently walks into the Overbridge of the Death Star in this deleted moment from ROGUE ONE.

One of the great story elements of ROGUE ONE was the chance to see and find out more about the upper echelons of Imperial power with the Death Star and the "court intrigue" between the ambitious characters of Ben Mendelsohn's Weapons Director Orson Krennic and Peter Cushing's Grand Moff Tarkin in wresting ultimate control of the space station. But Krennic had more scenes in the original filming/cut than what was eventually shown in cinemas, with a likely bigger involvement in the finale Battle of Scarif.

Scarif itself was the original sanctuary moon for the Death Star, in the same way that Endor was for the second space station- something hinted at with the first CELEBRATION convention teaser trailer for ROGUE ONE, created by John Knoll. This original scenario was confirmed in the official ROGUE ONE PROFILES AND POSTER BOOK from EGMONT UK, of which this info slipped through unrevised from Lucas Books:

"The Death Star is under construction on the planet Scarif, a tropical paradise prior to the military installation's presence. Huge tracts of land were excavated to build ships and supply the battle station, ruining Scarif's natural beauty. The planet is enveloped by impenetrable deflector shields and is heavily defended by the Imperial fleet."

In the end, Scarif became the communications/archive facility only, with scenes set of the Death Star on Scarif revised/refilmed/transferred to space or for the Jedha location, and the station's first weapons test. This change would also have resulted in new/revised scenes linked to both Krennic and Tarkin.

Here's a Krennic overview taster from the various bits of footage/imagery revealed during 2016.

Followed by his Death Troopers, Krennic enters the corridor to the Death Star control room.
Arriving for the test firing on Jedha.
Unused angle of Krennic observing Jedha.
Making a point to his Imperial comrades before Tarkin arrives.
On the bridge, and hand near his trusty ancient blaster, Krennic is in front of a main wall schematic of Scarif, as seen in ROGUE ONE's first teaser trailer.
'The power we are dealing with here is awesome.' A heated debate, presumably with Tarkin, in an alternate/ deleted scene on the Death Star.
Conferring with Darth Vader on the power of the Death Star. Its likely that some of the dialogue from this scene, presumably linked to courting the Emperor's favour over Tarkin, was instead transferred to the Mustafar location in further re-shoots.
Back in the Overbridge/control room as the Death Star orbits a world that is surely Scarif. Originally, Scarif was the sanctuary moon for the space station, the planet being mined for raw materials used in its construction. This was changed in re-shoots and post production.
The verbal power struggle between Krennic and Tarkin continues.
Amidst dead bodies and a crashed U-wing, Krennic walks the shore to the communications dish tower, which, from the film's teaser trailer, was at a separate location on the island during the original cut.
Filming Krennic's Scarif beach scene on the Pinewood Studios backlot, about to draw his weapon on someone.
